Speculum Books values its independence, and it’s mission is to ensure that the literary works of James G. Cowan remain in print, or available, for all readers now and in the future. The name Speculum was suggested by James as being an appropriate symbol for this publishing imprint. As the name suggests, Speculum is a mirror held up to the world, as well as a wing that allows the intellect to enjoy more invigorating flights above the flatlands of modernity.
Its credo is simple. Literary excellence is a true window to the world.
